What is SAT Exam?

About the SAT exam:

The SAT originally called the Scholastic Aptitude Test is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. SAT exams are accepted in Turkey in many universities.

Type of SAT exam:

The SAT is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test.

Dates of SAT exam:

The SAT exam is offered nationally every year in August, October, November, December, March, May, and June. View all upcoming SAT Dates.

SAT Questions Types:

There are a total of 58 Math questions on the SAT Math Test:

    1. Heart of Algebra, 19 questions.
    2. Problem Solving and Data Analysis, 17 questions.
    3. Passport to Advanced Math, 16 questions.
    4. Additional Topics in Math, 6 questions.

The Reading section has 52 questions in total

    1. Words in Context, 10 questions.
    2. Analysis, 32 questions.
    3. Command of Evidence, 10 questions.

The Writing section consists of 44 multiple-choice questions:

    1. Expression of Ideas, 24 questions
    2. Standard English Conventions, 20 questions

Optional Essay Section:

The test also includes an essay section, which is an optional section that is corrected separately from the rest of the exam. As some universities require that you submit the optinal Essay part of the SAT test, you can always ask the university you want to enroll in for this part.

How Long the SAT Exam Is?

The exam lasts approximately for three hours.

    1. one 10-minute break.
    2. one five-minute break.
    3. optional essay adds another 50 minutes.
    4. A 65-minute reading test comprised of 52 multiple-choice questions.
    5. writing and language test, which lasts 35 minutes and has 44 multiple-choice questions.
    6. An 80-minute math test that features 58 questions.

SAT Score Validity Period:

The SAT scores are valid over a period of 5 years, but some universities in Turkey accept only the tests that were done in the last two years.
